Ég vil meira pönk!

Rakst á þessa skemmtilegu grein og er alveg innilega sammála þessum manni. Ekki það að ég haldi með Man City en Stuart er minn maður og gott að vita að hann er enn með pönkið á hreinu. Þetta er minn næsti óskastjóri, f**k the rest!

Stuart Pearce and Feeding the Goat

Last summer I texted my mate - a punk rocking-loving Tottenham fan - with the words: "I'm down the front at an Anti-Nowhere League gig. Stuart Pearce is here."
He replied: "So what! Martin Jol is out on the town with Pete Doherty."
The main difference between those two messages is that mine was true.
It was the Wasted Festival in Blackpool and Stuart Pearce - England football legend and Manchester City manager - WAS down the front for the League.
Ok. He wasn't in what the young people call "the mosh pit". He was on the other side of the barrier with a privileged view. But this was hardcore. The League are the only band to have a single banned as an obscene publication. (It brought a whole new meaning to Feed the Goat - let's leave it at that).
The first time I saw them, in about 1981, singer Animal was swinging an axe across the front of the stage - just inches above the heads of pogoing punks. Presumably that's now against health and safety legislation. Political correctness gone mad.
Even without the axe they would shake up Daily Mail readers - and Stuart Pearce was down the front. And a few minutes earlier I'd seen Stuart on our side of the barrier watching the Not Sensibles.
So - as a Man City fan - I am desperate for Brother Stuart to keep his job.
My years of City watching have taught me that generally speaking football managers are all as bad as each other (except for Alan Ball). But this is the first one we've had who used to listen to White Riot by the Clash before running out to play. That's worth a job for life.
And - frankly - I don't care if we get relegated. The Premiership is a monument to greed and we are better off out of it.
When we had our sabbatical in the lower leagues in the 1990s it was much more fun in every respect (except for Alan Ball). If we are relegated I will go to more games. And I'm not the only one.
This is my dream. City get relegated. We win the championship by a street. Then we write to the Premiership politely declining their kind offer of promotion.
Now that would be punk rock.
